Forbes magazine released its annual list of Hollywood’s top-earning actors from the period June 2008 - June 2009. The list was compiled based on what the stars earned upfront on movies they were currently shooting as well as payments for movies after they hit theatres. Also, money that actors earned from featuring in advertisements was taken into account.
Forbes placed Harrison Ford as Hollywood's highest paid actor after earning £43.3 million over the last 12 months. The 66-year-old star made the massive amount after starring in 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', the fourth film in the Indiana Jones series- which took £500 million worldwide at the box office.
Adam Sandler, came second after raking in £36.6 million. Sandler had two hit movies last year; Bedtime Stories and Don’t Mess With Zohan. Will Smith, who was the highest paid actor last year, finished third with £30 million. He starred in Hancock and Seven Pounds, films that earned $800 million between them. Eddie Murphy came in fourth place with earnings of £26.6 million. Nicolas Cage rounded off the top five with £26.6 million.
Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey and Brad Pitt filled in the sixth to ninth positions respectively with earnings ranging from £23.3 million to £18.6 million
Johnny Depp, fell to the number 10 spot this year – he just earned £18.6 million (last year he was second with a whopping £44 million). Notice the major difference in earnings? That’s easily explained; there was no new Pirates Of The Caribbean movie released last year.
