Opening nail polish bottlesEveryone who paints their nails faces this issue. Each time you remove the brush, you wipe it against the edge of the bottle to remove excess polish before painting. This ends up sticking to the surface, and presto.. the next time you try to open your nail polish bottle, the lid just won’t budge. So how do you fix this issue? Wrap a rubber band several times around the cap. The friction from the rubber band gives a better grip. If that doesn’t work, then try holding the bottle under running hot water for a minute or so to loosen the dried polish. You could also tip the bottle upside down and pour some nail polish remover around the opening. Prevent things like this happening by running a cotton ball of nail polish remover around the neck of the bottle every time you finish painting your nails.
Broken Lipsticks
When you carry your lipsticks outside in your handbag, they tend to melt and lose strength, making it easier to break completely. Lipsticks become unstable if they are not stored at room temperature. Never fear – you do not have to throw away your favourite lipstick! One option is to mash the rest of the lipstick into the tube, and use a lip brush to apply. If you can’t even manage that then scoop what is left into an empty lip-gloss pot, blow dry to melt the lipstick into place and then let it set. If your lipstick is mostly intact and has only broken at the base, simply hold the lipstick with a tissue and wave a lit match under the broken piece to melt it a bit. Reattach the stick to the base at the correct angle and stick it in the fridge (uncovered) for 10-20 mins. It will be as good as new!
Shattered eye shadow powder
This happens all the time. You are rushing for a night out and you accidently drop your fragile eye shadow. This can be easily fixed by adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the compact, and spreading the powder back into shape (you can use a butter knife). Let it dry before using. If the damage cannot be repaired, then transfer it to a jar and use it as loose powder.
